Christie Shepherd
My name is Christie Shepherd, and I have 23 years as an educator for Grades 1st through 8th grade. I was an administrator for an elementary school for 2 years for Grades Kindergarten through 5th grade when I decided that I needed to share my experience with the
world where real change would be possible. My greatest passion and strength in the teaching field was identifying the way that an individual child learned and adapting the curriculum and content for their specific needs. I have a BA in Liberal Studies for K-8 grades from California State University, Sacramento (CSUS) and a Masters of Science in Instructional Technologyfrom Grand Canyon University. I have experience as a leader in several capacities ranging from Girl Scout troops, girls camp leadership team in Woodlake, Texas, and as a 4-H director of our school. I am married with 3 children and live in the Tomball, Texas area hoping to grow educators and administrators who are not afraid of changing their skills to best meet the needs of everyone they impact on a daily basis.
Real growth as a professional should be exciting and embraced so you don’t grow stagnant or fearful to adapt to the changing needs of our students and the staff that works with children. My husband, Stephen Shepherd, is a Manager - IT Telecom at a company located in Houston, Texas. My oldest daughter, Heidi Wellman, is a recent graduate of Arkansas State University launching her educational career as a Kindergarten teacher in the Navasota ISD and will be working alongside us to bring a fresh and exciting outlook to our company. My middle daughter just graduated from high school and will be attending school to become an esthetician. My youngest son is just starting intermediate school and loves basketball, video games, and swimming.
We are a dedicated family with a mission to help others in the education field by working towards earning their CPE hours for renewal of their teaching certificate every 5 years while maintaining a positive outlook and excitement to reach children and provide practical teaching methods that help them meet every child’s needs in the classroom and equip our educators with the best tools to educate children.
Heidi Wellman
My name is Heidi Wellman, and I am beginning my teaching career focusing on elementary grades. I just recently graduated with my Bachelor of General Studies from Arkansas State University. The two areas of focus that I chose within my degree plan were Education and Psychology. I have 3 years of Field Experience in different elementary schoolclassrooms during my Undergrad where I got to observe and learn from experienced teachers. I also have experience working with children with special needs. I took many classes focused on Special Education that were not required within my degree plan so that I could gain more knowledge within that particular field. I have also had experience as a camp counselor for children with special needs and at different church camps for elementary, middle school, and
high school-aged children. I have been a leader within Vacation Bible School (VBS) for many years and have taught a Sunday School class for preschoolers. I am currently located in the College Station/Bryan area with my boyfriend of 4 years. We have 2 cats and are both working towards starting our careers within our chosen fields of study.
I recently started teaching Kindergarten for the school year 23-24 in Navasota ISD at High Point Elementary. I am wanting to share my knowledge of the educational field with other first time teachers as we all learn how to navigate how to be an impactful and inspiring teacher. I wholeheartedly believe that as an educator, our goal is to shape the young minds of our students and give them the tools they need to succeed, not only within the classroom, but also in their lives.
